NEPSE to Open for Trading on Fridays; Board Approves New 5-Day Schedule

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has officially decided to open the secondary market for trading on Fridays, effectively transitioning to a Monday-through-Friday operating schedule. This strategic shift follows the government's recent implementation of a two-day weekend on Saturdays and Sundays to reduce national fuel consumption. By opening on Fridays, NEPSE ensures that investors maintain a full five-day trading week, compensating for the newly introduced Sunday holiday and providing continuity in market activity.
In conjunction with the updated trading calendar, the NEPSE Board of Directors has also approved key amendments to the working procedures governing stock dealers. These revisions are specifically designed to streamline institutional operations and facilitate a more efficient environment for professional market participation. By simplifying these protocols, NEPSE aims to enhance overall market liquidity and provide greater ease of business for dealers. All relevant agencies and technical departments have been instructed to update their systems immediately to accommodate these new Friday trading hours and regulatory updates.
