NEPSE steps up by 5.28 points; turnover above Rs 300 million

The Benchmark Index of Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) moved up by 5.28 points or 0.54 percent on the first trading day of the week to close at 988.77 level.
Similarly NEPSE Sensitive and Float has also surged by 1.24 point and 0.38 point to close at 209.86 and 69.05 levels respectively.
Opening at 983.63 level this afternoon, the local bourse went up high to 992.92 level within the initial hour and there after came down below 990 level till closing.
The participation of investors has surged today as the date of applying for IPOs of Janautthan and Barun Hydro has ended.
The total turnover stood at Rs 309.43 million.
Among the Sub-Indices, Banking went up by 5.02 points or 0.59 percent to close at 861.70 level.
Similarly Development (829.96) and Finance (543.94) surged by 4.31 points and 3.84 points respectively.
HydroPower (2278.38) and Insurance (4342.78) gained double digit of 33.39 points and 18.33 points respectively.
Others (748.37) stepped up meager 1.18 point where as Hotels (2057.04) was the only sector to land in red with plunge of 12.19 points.
Manufacturing managed to remain at 1441.18 level.
All together 828,324 unit shares of 154 scrips were traded through 2,402 transactions worth Rs 309.43 million.
Shares of Prabhu bank and Asian Life Insurance (Asian Life has announced 28.5 percent stock dividend)
and National Hydro were traded maximum today.
Shares of Mount Makalu , Aranilko Development and Nepal Awas Finance surged maximum today.
JEDL, KDBL and EFL were among the top losers of the day.
