NEPSE Sheds 35.92 Points as Flood Damage Raises Uncertainty in Hydropower Sector

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) recorded a double -digit loss today, losing by 35.92 points (1.38%) to close at 2,558.35. This follows a 5.30 point loss in the previous trading session. .

Hydropower stocks remained under pressure following recent flood-related damage, adding to the broader market decline. The Hydropower Index fell by 104.33 points (2.84%) to close at 3,561.28. Of the hydropower companies traded, 101 declined, while only 10 advanced and none remained unchanged, indicating broad-based selling pressure across the sector.

The benchmark index opened at 2,591.33 and fluctuated between an intraday high of 2,592.12 and a low of 2,546.94 before settling at the close. Total turnover for the day amounted to Rs. 4.77 Arba, with 13,582,320 shares traded across 348 companies through 61,442 transactions. The total market capitalization stood at Rs. 44 Kharba, with a float market capitalization of Rs. 14.83 Kharba.

Chilime Hydropower Company Limited (CHCL) topped the turnover chart, recording transactions worth Rs. 20.56 crores. The company’s stock closed at Rs. 427.00.

Sarvottam Paints Industries Limited (SAPIL) hit the upper circuit with a 15.00% gain. The stock closed at Rs. 1,212.90.

Meanwhile, Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company Limited (RHPL) recorded the Highest fall, falling by 15.00%. The last traded price of the company was Rs. 205.20.

Among sectors, Non-Life Insurance recorded the highest loss, losing by 3.90%, while the Trading Index recorded the least loss, down 0.04%.
