NEPSE registers 15.84% year-on-year growth; development sector top performer

NEPSE saw a rise of 15.84% at the end of the year 2071 as compared to last year. On Chaitra 30, 2070, NEPSE was at 817.65 points, while this year the index is at 947.22 points, a year-on-year rise of 129.57 points.

A similar observation of sector-wise indices reveals development bank as top performing segment, which registered a growth of 53.76%, while Others segment has turned out to be the worst performer registering a decline of 11.04%.     

Last year, on Chaitra 30, the index for development banks was at 518.98, whereas this year its index is at 798.01, a rise of 279.03 points. Similarly, NTC index on the day was at 797.7 points last year but has declined to 709.61 this year a fall of 88.09 points.

Hotels and commercial banks ended the year with average performance. While hotels saw a rise of 29.50%, banking sector climbed 13.78%.

Last year, on Chaitra 30 hotels index was at 1534.32 while this year it is at 1986.97. Banking was at 731.30 on Chaitra 30 last year but moved up to close at 832.14 this year.

The finance sector, meanwhile, saw a meager rise of 0.35%. While last year it closed at 393.12 points, this year the index is at 532.26.

Meanwhile, the hydropower sector declined by 4.98% compared to last year. Hydropower index was at 2323.85 points while it ended the year at 2,208 points.

Himalayan Distillery Ltd. previous year price was Rs 112 and this year the price is Rs 686. It has gone up by 512.50 %

Everest Insurance previous year price was Rs 211 and this year the price is Rs 877, which is a rise of 315.64%

Neco Insurance previous year price was Rs 211 and this year the price is Rs 617, which is a rise of 192.42%

Karnali Development Bank previous year price was Rs 103 and this year its price is Rs 287. It has gone upward by 178.64%


Top Losers

Nepal Insurance previous year price was Rs 833 and this year the price is Rs 380. It has declined by 54.38%

Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company price last year was Rs 470 whereas this year it’s Rs 345. It has declined by 26.60%.

Shikhar Insurance Company Limited last year price was Rs 940 and this year it’s price is Rs 715. It has been declined by 23.94 points.

Shine Resunga Development Bank Limited last year price was Rs 450 and this year its price is 348, a fall of 22.67%.
