NEPSE index sheds 11.23 points as market comes under grip of short-term traders; Turnover also tumbles to Rs 59.78 crore

The benchmark index at Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) has declined by 11.23 points or 0.74% to close at 1,504.79 points today.
Nepse Index opened at 1516.02 points today and the local bourse was seen in upward trend until the first trading hour of the day, after which the market faced increasing selling pressure. Influx of short-term traders wishing to book profit dragged the market down.
The total turnover of the day stood at Rs 59.78 crore in which more than 11.77 lakh shares were traded with 6,412 transactions. Yesterday, the total turnover was over Rs 75.64 crore.
Chilime Hydropower Company Limited (CHCL) topped the list of companies in terms of turnover (Rs 3.93 crore) while Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) was traded the most (1.06 lakh units) today.
The best performer for the day were Himalayan Distillery Company Limited (HDL) and Nepal Hydro Developer Limited (NHDL) hitting 10% positive circuit break whereas Kisan Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha Limited (KMFL) was the biggest loser today with 5.42% loss.
Sensitive and float index went down by 2.48 points and 0.95 points respectively.
Except Hotels, Manufacturing & Productions and Others sub-indices, seven trading groups landed in red at the end of the day. Hydropower sector was the biggest loser with 2.37% loss.
