NEPSE Falls Sharply on First Trading Day After New Budget Measures; While Two Companies Hit Upper Circuit

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) recorded a double digit loss today, declining by 26.72 points (0.96%) to settle at 2,755.37. This comes after a gain of 4.99 points in the previous trading session on 27th May, 2026 .

The benchmark index opened at 2782.4 and reached an intraday high of 2,789.56, while the day’s low stood at 2,745.20. Total turnover for the day amounted to Rs. 5.61 Arba, with 13,383,816 shares traded across 349 companies through 63,719 transactions. The total market capitalization stood at Rs. 47.01 Kharba, with a float market capitalization of Rs. 15.73 Kharba.

Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company Ltd (AKJCL) topped the turnover chart, recording transactions worth Rs. 43.04 crores. The company’s stock closed at Rs. 431.00.

Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) and Kalinchock Hydropower Limited (KHPL) and Led the gainer's list with 14.99%.

Meanwhile, Bungal Hydro Limited (BUNGAL) recorded the Highest fall, falling by 13.20 %, the last traded price of the company was Rs. 730.00.

Among sectors, the Others Index registered the highest gain by 3.36%, while Trading Index recorded highest fall, falling by 6.14%.
