Nepal Rastra Bank to Issue New Rs 50 Banknotes from Ashwin 2

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) will put new Rs 50 denomination banknotes into circulation from Ashwin 2, 2083, retaining the existing size and color of the note. The central bank’s Currency Management Department issued a notice informing the public about the new notes, which will carry serial numbers ranging from (Ta. 24) 000001 to (Na. 70) 78999999.

The front side of the new Rs 50 note features the mandatory payment statement stating that the holder can receive Rs 50 from Nepal Rastra Bank upon demand. The note includes an image of Mount Everest on the left and a rhododendron watermark on the right, along with a “50” watermark beneath it. The lower section carries the series designation “B.S. 2082.”

The new banknote bears the signature of NRB Governor Prof. Dr. Bishwanath Poudel. It also contains a 1.2 mm-wide security thread embedded in the paper, which becomes fully visible when viewed against light and carries the inscription “NRB.”

On the reverse side, the note features an image of a snow leopard, with “NEPAL RASTRA BANK” printed above it. The lower section carries the denomination “RUPEES FIFTY” and the series marking “2025 A.D.”

NRB also clarified that although it had previously announced the circulation of Rs 50 banknotes of the 2019 series from Ashadh 22, 2077, with serial numbers ranging from (Ja. 89) 000001 to (Ta. 33) 999999, only notes with serial numbers from (Ja. 89) 000001 to (Ta. 23) 900000 were actually put into circulation.
