Nepal Rastra Bank Removes Transaction Limits for Disaster Relief Fund Payments

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has allowed payments through mobile banking, web applications and electronic wallets to accounts related to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund without applying the usual transaction limits.

According to a notice issued by NRB’s Payment Systems Department, the decision has been made in the context of financial support being collected for citizens affected by floods and landslides across Nepal. Payment service providers and other authorized institutions have been asked to make the necessary arrangements accordingly. The move is expected to make it easier for people to send financial assistance to the designated relief fund accounts.
