NCRA and ICAN Partner to Strengthen Cooperative Regulation in Nepal
The National Cooperatives Regulatory Authority (NCRA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) have signed an MoU to enhance regulation, monitoring, and transparency in Nepal’s cooperative sector. The collaboration aims to improve financial discipline, auditing, and accountability, particularly for savings and credit cooperatives.

Alongside the MoU, NCRA introduced the “Registration and Documentation Standard, 2082”, mandating federal, provincial, and local registration for eligible cooperatives, with an online registration system launching in September–October 2025. This initiative seeks to create a transparent and technically robust cooperative ecosystem, strengthen compliance, and promote sustainable growth, ultimately safeguarding members’ interests and public trust.
