NBA, Sakchyam join hands

Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) on Friday joined hands with Sakchyam Access to Finance Programme, an initiative funded by the UK Aid to enhance financial inclusion in Nepal through joint initiatives.  

The measures to be taken will be advancing legal/regulatory reforms, enhancing value chain financing for small and medium enterprise, integrating technology

platforms at the industry level and introducing transformational product and delivery channel innovations in financing to the small and medium enterprises, the NBA said in a statement.

Louis Berger, a global professional services corporation, in partnership with several local and international institutions, implements the initiative under Sakchyam for Department for International Development.

NBA President Upendra Poudyal and Sakchyam Team Leader Baljit Vohra signed a Memorandum of Unders-tanding (MoU) in Kathmandu on Friday on the behalf of their respective institutions.

According to NBA, the MoU will help establish a platform for improving knowledge on a SME value chain finance, to foster an integrated industry approach to deploying technology mainly related to Mobile Financial Services and retail payment systems.

Similarly, it has also targeted introducing transformational product and services innovations in SME finance under the broad categories of credit, savings, ancillary products, delivery channel innovations and enablers.

NBA President Upendra  Poudyal said NBA was happy to announce new partnership with Sakchyam where they will be working on numerous essential innovations to transform the financial sector.

Vohra said the collaboration could help Nepal’s financial sector for future innovations.
