The Nepal Association for Software and IT Services Companies (NAS-IT) is developing a new bachelor-level IT curriculum aimed at producing industry-ready graduates aligned with evolving market needs in Nepal’s tech sector. The initiative, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and Swisscontact, seeks to reduce the growing gap between academic learning and practical industry requirements.

NAS-IT President Gaurav Pandey stated that the programme could be the first in Nepal to be directly designed by the industry, addressing the lack of hands-on skills among many IT graduates. The curriculum will emphasize emerging technologies such as AI, data science, blockchain, cloud computing, and cybersecurity, along with problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Developed in collaboration with Nepal Open University, the four-year degree will include strong work-integrated learning, allowing students to gain real industry experience from the start of their studies and become job-ready upon graduation.
