MP Amar Bahadur Thapa Protests Budget by Tearing Ministry Booklet in Parliament

CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Amar Bahadur Thapa staged a dramatic protest in the House of Representatives on Thursday by tearing up the budget booklet for the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport during a parliamentary session.

Thapa expressed strong dissatisfaction with the budget allocations for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2025/26, stating that the proposed funds for physical infrastructure had overlooked public needs and demands. He criticized the ministry for failing to prioritize development projects that directly benefit the people and claimed the budget lacked fairness and vision.

His act of tearing the booklet was seen as a symbolic gesture to draw attention to what he described as a disregard for equitable infrastructure development across the country.
