Monsoon Activity to Bring Rain, Snowfall and Thunderstorms Across Nepal

The latest weather update shows that the monsoon trough is in its normal position, while Nepal is being influenced by both monsoon and westerly winds, along with a significant low-pressure system located over Uttar Pradesh, India.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, weather conditions across Nepal are expected to remain generally cloudy, with moderate rainfall and snowfall likely in several areas.

Moderate rain and snowfall are expected in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Sudurpashchim, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely in some areas.

The Himalayan regions of Sudurpashchim are expected to remain particularly cloudy, while similar conditions may prevail across the higher elevations of other provinces.

Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is forecast for parts of the Terai in Sudurpashchim, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.

Heavy rainfall may occur at isolated locations in Gandaki and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in parts of the Terai areas of Madhesh and Bagmati provinces.

Strong or gusty winds are also possible in some parts of the Terai, particularly in Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Overall, cloudy weather is expected to dominate Sudurpashchim and the Himalayan regions of several provinces, while partly cloudy conditions are likely across the remaining parts of the country.
