MoFA Holds Virtual Meet with Missions in West Asia and Africa, Focuses on Economic Diplomacy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday held a virtual interaction with Nepali diplomatic missions based in West Asia and Africa, reviewing their performance, priorities and the situation of Nepali nationals abroad.

During the meeting, Ambassadors, Consuls General and Chargés d’Affaires briefed officials on the current conditions in their respective host countries, including the safety and security of Nepali citizens, status of consular services, and innovative practices adopted to improve service delivery, the Ministry said.

Addressing the programme, Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal highlighted the government’s key priorities of promoting good governance and achieving economic prosperity through strengthened economic diplomacy. He directed the missions to align their activities with these national goals and emphasised the need to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in public service delivery through innovation and digital transformation.

Similarly, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai stressed the importance of improving service delivery mechanisms, advancing economic diplomacy in the evolving global context, and leveraging technology to boost efficiency.

The interaction is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination with diplomatic missions and ensure better services for Nepali citizens abroad while promoting the country’s economic interests.
