Market opens for the week with double digit gain; NIC Asia Bank dominates trade, turnover and top gainers list

The market today gained double digits after the growth in the final hour of trade. The benchmark index gained 1.47% or 17.16 points and closed at 1182.36 points. Today’s turnover was worth Rs.54.39 Crore which was achieved from trade of 1,887,373 units of shares traded through 7,532 transactions trading scrips of 168 listed companies in the process.

Today’s trade was dominated by NIC Asia Bank Limited (NICA). A total of 146,463 units of shares were traded posting a turnover of Rs.6.64 Crore. The LTP of the bank stands at Rs.468 per share.

Not limiting to trade, NICA was also today’s top gainer. The commercial bank gained 6.36% or 28 points and closed at Rs.468 per share. Universal Power Company (UPCL) hit the negative circuit today as well. It lost 9.25% or 10 points. The share price of the hydropower company, which started at Rs.270 per share after listing, stands at Rs.98 per share.

Sensitive Index gained 4.41 points and closed at 252.98 points while Float Index gained 1.52 points and closed at 86.70 points.

While Others and Life Insurance sectors remained unchanged today, Hydropower, Non-Life Insurance, Manufacturing & Processing and Microfinance sectors ended in the red zone after losing 0.24%, 0.36%, 0.28% and 0.07% respectively. Rest of the sub-indices gained points today. Commercial Banks were top gainers among them as it gained 2.75% or 28.19 points.
