Majority of Bhatbhateni Stores Damaged in Gen Z Protests; Company Vows to Rebuild

Out of 28 Bhatbhateni Supermarket outlets across the country, 21 sustained damage during Tuesday’s Gen Z protests, with several completely destroyed. According to reports, 12 branches—including Naxal, Maharajgunj, Boudha, Koteshwor, Baluwaatar warehouse, Pokhara, Chitwan, Hetauda, Birtamod, Damak, Biratnagar, and Dharan—were looted, set on fire, and reduced to ruins. Another nine outlets in Kalanki, Thimi, Balaju, Janakpur, Butwal, Birgunj, Dhangadhi, Itahari, and Bhairahawa were vandalized, with most of their goods stolen.
The supermarket chain, which had been providing employment opportunities to thousands of youths across its network, said it would require at least two to three weeks to fully assess the scale of the damage. Meanwhile, only seven outlets—located in Tokha, Satdobato, Anamnagar, Sanagaun, Tripureshwor, Patan, and Nepalgunj—remained unaffected.
Despite the widespread destruction, Bhatbhateni has expressed determination to recover. In a public statement, the company acknowledged the immense loss but affirmed its commitment to rebuilding, stating that the support of customers and well-wishers remains its greatest source of strength. The message emphasized resilience and promised a stronger comeback in the future.
