The government is working to reopen major roads damaged by floods and landslides before the Dashain festival. Road repair work has been accelerated in several districts, with the Department of Roads saying that major highways will be brought back into operation before the festival.

Department of Roads spokesperson Shubharaj Neupane said road repairs are underway in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan and Gorkha. Transport is expected to reach Dhunche in Rasuwa within the next four to five days, while the road toward Mustang is also expected to reopen soon. He said road conditions may remain difficult in some places, but people should not be prevented from travelling home or transporting food and other essential goods.

According to the latest Nepal Police update, major roads in Rasuwa remain blocked due to the Bhotekoshi flood on September 10. The Beni-Jomsom road in Myagdi was also fully blocked by a landslide on September 26. Meanwhile, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Nawalparasi East and the Besisahar-Khangsar road in Manang have resumed one-way traffic, although some restrictions remain.
