Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Partners with HDFC to Launch Cross-Border Payment System from India to Nepal

Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Limited (MLBL) has partnered with India’s leading financial institution, HDFC Bank, to launch a cross-border payment system allowing direct transfers from India to Nepal. With this, MLBL becomes the first development bank in Nepal to implement such a system.

The service uses HDFC’s advanced Cash Management System (CMS), enabling transfers via NEFT, RTGS, and FT directly into MLBL accounts in Nepal, along with cheque deposits from other Indian banks.

This partnership strengthens banking ties between Nepal and India and supports smoother cross-border trade and remittance services. The bank has also added a virtual credit card feature to its mobile banking app "Mahalaxmi Smart Sathi" and continues expanding digital innovations across its 103 branches and 800,000 customers.
