Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Enables UnionPay QR Payments Across Nepal

Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Limited has introduced a new QR payment service allowing UnionPay International wallet users to make payments through its Fonepay QR merchant network across Nepal. This service, launched in collaboration with UnionPay and Fonepay, enables seamless QR-based transactions, benefiting especially international tourists, including those from China, by reducing the need to carry cash.

The bank expects this initiative to strengthen Nepal’s digital payment infrastructure and has reaffirmed its commitment to secure and inclusive digital innovation. Additionally, under its “Digital Promotion Year 2083” initiative, the bank is offering a travel package reward to selected mobile banking users through a lucky draw scheme. It currently operates 103 branches nationwide, serving over 850,000 customers.
