Legal Action Taken Against 2,431 Business Firms in Gandaki Province

Authorities in Gandaki Province have taken legal action against 2,431 business firms for irregular or illegal use of weights and measuring instruments in fiscal year 2082/83.

The action was taken under the Weights and Measures Act, 2025  and the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 said Manoj Pokharel, chief of the Office of Quality and Measurement, Pokhara. The affected firms operate across Kaski, Gorkha, Lamjung, Syangja, Tanahun, Manang, Mustang, Parbat, Myagdi and Baglung districts.

The office also issued new permits to 1,078 firms and renewed licences for 28 existing firms to use measuring instruments during the same period. It collected Rs 7,852,967 in revenue from various sources in fiscal year 2082/83.
