Leadership Shift at Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry as Anjan Shrestha Takes Charge
The 60th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has commenced in Kathmandu, marking a significant leadership transition. According to the organization’s statute, Anjan Shrestha is set to officially assume the role of President for the next three years, succeeding Chandra Prasad Dhakal. While the presidency transitions automatically from the Senior Vice President, an election is scheduled at the Nepal Academy in Kamaladi to elect a new Senior Vice President.
The AGM, which faced previous delays due to legal hurdles and court orders, now focuses on a critical agenda for the private sector. Under Shrestha’s upcoming leadership, the FNCCI aims to prioritize the revitalization of Nepal's sluggish economy and advocate for policy stability. Key challenges identified include strengthening coordination with the government to solve private sector grievances and fostering a more investment friendly environment by addressing controversial legislative provisions, such as those involving anti-corruption jurisdictions over private businesses.
