Key Decisions from Today's Cabinet Meeting
The Government of Nepal made several key decisions and official appointments during a cabinet meeting held on Thursday.
Among the policy updates, the cabinet approved the submission of an international United Nations treaty regarding the conservation and sustainable use of ocean life in international waters to the federal parliament for approval. Additionally, the government updated several national regulations, officially approving new versions of the National Integrity Policy 2083, the National Advertising Policy 2083, the Education Rules 2083 (Tenth Amendment), and the rules concerning the prohibition of bonded labor (Kamaiya Labor Prohibition Rules 2083).
The meeting also resulted in major leadership changes across security and public institutions. Eight Additional Inspectors General (AIGs) of the Nepal Police were transferred to new locations or roles. Furthermore, the government appointed new executive heads to three public entities: Hikmat Bahadur Rawal was appointed as the General Manager of the state-owned Gorkhapatra Corporation, Dev Raj Dhungana was named the Executive Director of the Security Printing Center, and Dharma Raj Khadka was appointed as the Executive Director of the Specific Structure Operation and Management Development Committee.
