Kakarvitta imports petroleum products worth over Rs 24.5 billion in year

Petroleum products worth over Rs 24.5 billion were imported via the Kakarvitta point along Nepal-India border in Jhapa during the last fiscal year (2082-83 BS).

The imports mainly include petrol, diesel and cooking or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). According to the Kakarvitta Customs Office, petrol worth Rs 12.18 billion, diesel worth Rs 9.55 billion and cooking gas worth over Rs 2.77 billion were imported during the period.

In the previous fiscal year, petrol imports amounted over Rs 8.92 billion, while diesel imports were valued at Rs 7.03 billion. As said by Office Chief Shibalal Neupane, the government collected Rs 5.85 billion from petrol imports and Rs 2.93 billion from diesel imports during the last fiscal year.
