India Provides Rs 803 Million Support for Education, Health, and Agriculture Projects in Nepal

The Indian government is providing grant assistance of Rs 803 million to Nepal to support eight different development projects across the country. Representatives from the relevant Nepal’s government bodies and the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu signed agreement papers on Tuesday to officially start the work. These community projects focus on improving healthcare, boosting agriculture, and expanding educational access, and they will be carried out directly through local municipal governments and public institutions in Nepal.

Under this financial grant, major health and education facilities will see significant upgrades. The BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan will transition to digital systems, while a new 15 bed hospital will be built in the Barju region of Sunsari district. A 10 bed hospital is also set to be constructed in the Dungeshwar area of Dailekh district. On the education side, the Belbari Multiple Campus in Morang district will receive a new campus building to better serve local students.

The aid also places a heavy emphasis on strengthening regional farming communities. Plans include building a crop collection and sales center in Bhojpur, a cash crop and livestock facility in Dhading, and an agriculture support center in Humla. To help farmers store their produce and reduce waste, a cold storage unit will also be constructed in the Kaligandaki area of Syangja district.
