Indefinite Curfew Imposed in Parts of Dhanusha and Siraha Amid Security Concerns

The District Administration Offices (DAOs) of Dhanusha and Siraha have imposed curfew orders in selected areas of the two districts, citing concerns over the prevailing security situation and the need to maintain law and order.

In Dhanusha, Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Luintel issued an order imposing an indefinite curfew in several sensitive areas of the district. The decision, taken during a meeting of the District Security Committee, came into effect from 3:30 pm today and will remain in force until further notice.

Issued under Section 6 of the Local Administration Act, 2028, the order prohibits movement, public gatherings, processions, demonstrations, meetings, and sit-ins within the designated curfew zones. The administration has warned that anyone violating the order will face legal action under existing laws.

According to the DAO, the curfew covers the area stretching from Lakshminiya Haatbazar Chowk in the north to Siurjoda Chowk in the west, from Laxmipur Novwa through a point 500 meters east of MU Steel on Belouni Road to the National Primary School in the east, from the Nagaraine Municipality area to Nagaraine Chowk in the south, and the Siurjoda–Sohni–Manimandap–Nepal Nursery–ISKCON–Janakpur–Dhalkebar Bridge–Bela–Kadari Mosque corridor in the west.

The District Administration Office has appealed to the public to strictly comply with the curfew order, stating that the measure has been taken in view of the sensitive situation and to safeguard peace and public security.

Meanwhile, the District Administration Office, Siraha has also imposed a curfew in parts of Golbazar Municipality, citing the possibility of a deterioration in the law and order situation.

According to an order issued by Chief District Officer Surendra Paudel, the curfew was enforced under Section 6(a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028, following a decision by the District Security Committee in light of recent security concerns and the possibility of protests and disturbances.

The curfew is in effect from 2:00 pm today until further notice. It covers the area from Kaharaha Khola in Ward No. 3 along the East-West Highway in the east to Chaurhawa Chowk in the west, and from Sainik Chowk in Ward No. 6 in the north to the vicinity of the Rajakiya Technical Multipurpose Campus in Ward No. 4 in the south.

The Siraha administration has urged residents to cooperate by fully observing the curfew orders and warned that legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the restrictions. It also stated that security agencies have been placed on high alert, surveillance has been intensified in the affected areas, and residents have been advised to remain indoors except for essential purposes.
