Himalayan Bank launches Nepal’s first UnionPay RMB Card

Himalayan Bank Limited (HBL) has launched the UnionPay RMB Card in collaboration with UnionPay International, becoming the first bank in Nepal to introduce this service. The card is designed to make travel and payments in China easier and more affordable for Nepali customers.

Users can make payments directly in Chinese Yuan (CNY) through ATMs, POS machines, QR codes, and e-commerce platforms across China. Students, businesspeople, tourists, and institutions can load the card with an amount approved by Nepal Rastra Bank and use it on platforms such as Alipay+, WeChat Pay, and Nihao China. The service was officially launched at an event held at Marriott Hotel, Kathmandu, by HBL CEO Ashoke SJB Rana and Zhuang Bei.
