In a significant leap for digital accessibility in Nepal’s eastern highlands, high speed 4G connectivity has officially launched at the historic Pathivara Temple. Situated at a formidable altitude of 3,794 meters, the famous pilgrimage site is now equipped with robust mobile broadband, ending years of communication hurdles for the thousands of devotees who trek to the shrine annually.

The project, a collaborative milestone between the Pathivara Area Development Committee and Nepal Telecommunications Company (Nepal Telecom), was the culmination of a three year agreement initially inked with the Telecommunication Office in Ilam. The installation of a dedicated Base Transceiver Station (BTS) tower serves a dual purpose: providing a lifeline for pilgrims navigating the rugged terrain and bringing modern digital infrastructure to the residents of the nearby Phaktanglung Rural Municipality.

Beyond simple communication, the upgrade is set to revolutionize the temple’s internal operations. According to Committee Executive Director Prajin Hangbang, the 4G integration will allow for the implementation of an online management system for bheti (monetary offerings). This move is expected to ensure unprecedented transparency and accountability in the handling of temple donations, bringing a high-tech solution to one of Nepal’s most revered spiritual landmarks.
