Handicraft Trade Fair from May 5

Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) is organizing the 13th Handicraft Trade Fair and 11th Craft Competition in Kathmandu from May 5. The five-day event is being organized at Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall with the support from Trade and Export Promotion Center (TEPC) of the government.
Organizing a press conference on Thursday, officials of FHAN said that the event aims to promote Nepali handicraft products in the domestic and international market. The organizers also said that the event aims to provide a platform for handicraft entrepreneurs to interact with potential consumers, parties and make business to business deals. According to FHAN, the event will have six pavilions and 177 stalls of domestic as well as foreign handicraft producers from Nepal as well as India and Bhutan. The stalls will showcase different products made from pashmina, stone, paper, bamboo, wood, and wool, among others. The organizers are giving high emphasis to promotion of products and services enlisted by the government in National Trade Integration Strategy (NTIS). Meanwhile, craft competition is being organized during the event to honor entrepreneurs making significant contribution to Nepali handicraft industry. The organizers are expecting 300,000 visitors and Rs 100 million worth of turnover during the event.
