Nepal’s first-ever overpass at Gwarko, Lalitpur, opens to the public today, marking the end of a four-year-long construction period. All necessary works, including road markings, traffic signals, and drainage, have been completed.
The structure spans 320 meters toward Koteshwor and 180 meters toward Satdobato, featuring a 35-meter-long, four-lane bridge. Delays had pushed the project beyond its final deadline, resulting in daily fines that prompted swift completion.
So far, 46% of the contract amount has been paid, with the remainder to be released after document verification. Plans are also underway to build a second overpass in the next fiscal year, subject to funding approval.
