Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha expressed his sorrow over the famous cultural historian Satya Mohan Joshi's passing and said the government would consider to declare a public holiday. But no decision has yet been made by the government in this matter.
Shrestha told reporters that he had talked with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba about having a public holiday when he arrived at Lalitpur Metropolitan City Complex on Sunday afternoon to pay his respects to Joshi.
In response to a suggestion made by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Shrestha claimed that "the government has agreed to offer a day of national holiday as a form of mourning for the loss of Satya Mohan Joshi, and the official notification would come through the government."
