Government Sets Rs. 18.90 Kharba Budget Ceiling for Upcoming FY 83/84

The government has set a budget ceiling of Rs. 18.90 Kharba for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. The meeting held on Tuesday at a Finance Committee  of the House of Representatives,, Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyaya said the ceiling was determined based on available resources, expenditure needs, and the current economic situation.

All ministries have already submitted their plans and programmes through the budget information system, while the Ministry of Finance is reviewing priorities, expenditure cuts, and incomplete projects. The government plans to make the upcoming budget more result-oriented by prioritizing the completion of ongoing and unfinished projects instead of introducing new ones, with a focus on productive sectors.

To control spending, the government has removed 39 unnecessary structures and abolished more than 300 positions, while also moving ahead with the repeal of 15 irrelevant laws to strengthen fiscal discipline.
