The government has initiated measures to make office chiefs more responsible and accountable in a bid to prevent fiduciary irregularities and curb corruption across public institutions.

As part of its anti-corruption drive, the government has publicly invited recommendations for immediate reforms in policies, laws, institutions, procedures, and administrative practices. The move aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and integrity in governance.

Chief Secretary Suman Aryal stated that the primary responsibility of office chiefs is to ensure that employees deliver services with courtesy and professionalism. He stressed the importance of maintaining neutrality, transparency, and strict adherence to ethical standards and disciplinary codes outlined in the law.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Aryal clarified that the newly formed government has placed a high priority on eliminating all forms of corruption, including policy-level, institutional, and procedural irregularities within public bodies. He noted that promoting good governance remains central to the government’s agenda.

The government has also adopted policies aimed at building a skilled, professional, and ethical workforce to restore public trust. Special emphasis has been placed on ensuring accessible and priority services for women, children, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and other vulnerable groups.

According to the statement, potential cases of bribery, corruption, and irregularities will be closely monitored and subject to spot checks. Authorities have urged that any information related to corrupt practices be properly documented and reported immediately to the concerned bodies.

Chief Secretary Aryal called on all stakeholders to take proactive steps to eliminate corruption stemming from the misuse of public office in areas such as service delivery, development projects, revenue administration, and procurement processes. He emphasized the need to establish a system of governance rooted in integrity, one that delivers tangible benefits and earns the confidence of citizens.
