Government Mobilizes Rs. 85.19 Billion in First Month; Capital Spending Barely Moves

The government recorded revenue of Rs. 85.19 billion and expenditure of Rs. 46.30 billion during the first month of fiscal year 2082/83, as per the latest figures from the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO).

Revenue collection accounted for 5.56 percent of the annual target of Rs. 1.533 trillion. Tax receipts contributed more than Rs. 80.67 billion, or 6.09 percent of the yearly goal, while non-tax revenue stood at Rs. 3.79 billion, representing 2.46 percent. In addition, the government received Rs. 420 million through foreign grants and Rs. 309 million under other headings.

For the ongoing fiscal year, the government has aimed to mobilize Rs. 1.325 trillion from taxes, Rs. 154.41 billion from non-tax sources, and Rs. 53.44 billion from foreign grants.

On the expenditure side, out of the total budget of Rs. 1.964 trillion, only Rs. 46.30 billion was spent in the first month. Recurrent expenditure stood at Rs. 18.47 billion, equal to 1.56 percent of the Rs. 1.180 trillion allocation.

Capital spending remained sluggish, with just Rs. 726 million utilized out of Rs. 407.88 billion—barely 0.18 percent. The highest disbursement was under financial management, where Rs. 27.10 billion was spent, 7.22 percent of the Rs. 375.24 billion earmarked.
