Government Budget Expenditure Reaches Nearly 60 Percent by Mid-May, Revenue Collection at 66 Percent

Government spending has reached around 60 percent of the total annual budget by the end of Baisakh (May 14) in the current fiscal year 2025/26, according to the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO).

In the past ten months, the government has spent Rs 1 trillion 173 billion 520 million out of the total budget allocation of Rs 1 trillion 964 billion 110 million, which accounts for 59.75 percent of the annual expenditure.

Under different headings, capital expenditure stands at 27.91 percent, while fiscal management spending has reached 65.30 percent of its allocation. Development and administrative spending also continue to contribute to the overall budget utilization.

On the revenue side, the government has collected around 66 percent of its annual target. Out of the total revenue target of Rs 1 trillion 533 billion 446 million 900 thousand, Rs 1 trillion 12 billion 52 million 400 thousand has been collected so far.

Similarly, foreign aid inflow has reached 33.28 percent of the annual target, with Rs 17 billion 787 million 600 thousand received against the expected Rs 53 billion 446 million 900 thousand, the FCGO stated.
