The government has announced a new provision allowing companies listed in Nepal’s securities market to also be listed on foreign stock exchanges.
Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle made the announcement while presenting the national budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 at a joint session of the Federal Parliament.
According to the budget statement, Nepali companies listed on the domestic stock exchange will be allowed to issue Global Depository Receipts (GDRs) and access international capital markets after completing the required procedures.
The move will enable eligible companies to raise capital from foreign investors and expand their presence beyond the domestic market.
The government said the initiative is aimed at integrating Nepal’s capital market with global financial systems, improving investment opportunities, and enhancing the competitiveness of listed companies.
Officials believe the policy will help attract foreign investment and provide Nepali companies with broader access to international funding sources.
