Global IME becomes first Nepali bank to open contact office in Australia

Global IME Bank has opened its contact office in Sydney, Australia on Thursday. It is the first such office of a Nepali commercial bank in the country. The branch was inaugurated by Nepal’s Finance Minister Ramsharan Mahat.

The inauguration program was attended by the bank’s promoter Suhrid Raj Ghimire, Nepalese ambassador to Australia Rudrakumar Nepal, the chairman of president of Non-residence Nepali Association Shesh Ghale, Australian Senator Shyam Dashyari and Manager of Australian regulatory body Jenifer Boulding.

The contact office is expected to encourage trade and investment between Nepali and Australian businessmen and facilitate promotional activities. Also the office will ease banking as well as remittance activities for the Nepali citizens and students in Australia.

The bank has also received pre-approvals from Nepal Rastra Bank to open such offices in other countries as well.
