The Gandaki Province Government has initiated pre-budget discussions for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84, focusing on the principles and priorities of the annual budget. As per the Nepali calendar, the provincial government is required to unveil the budget on Ashadh 1.

Minister for Economic Affairs Jit Bahadur Sherchan said the principles and priorities of the budget and programmes will be presented in the Province Assembly before the announcement of the annual budget. He added that the government is collecting suggestions from local levels to make the budget more practical and inclusive.

According to the minister, preparations are underway to introduce mega projects aimed at supporting the province’s economic prosperity, while ensuring the effective implementation of planned programmes.

Chief of the Budget Division at the ministry, Dilli Ram Rijal, shared that pre-budget discussions have already been conducted in all districts except Kaski. Consultations are also being held with local governments, the private sector, and other stakeholders as part of the budget formulation process.

The provincial government has indicated that the upcoming budget size may decline slightly compared to last year’s Rs 31.98 billion budget, mainly due to limited growth in internal revenue and lower-than-expected revenue collection.
