Shankar Man Singh, the former head of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday night after a sudden heart attack. He was a highly respected leader who managed the country's main stock market from 2009 to 2013. He is widely remembered for transforming how people buy and sell shares in Nepal, making the process much easier and more modern for everyday investors.

During his time in office, Mr. Singh successfully resolved legal disputes to increase the number of licensed stock brokers, which made the market accessible to far more people. He also set up the company responsible for replacing old paper share certificates with a modern, digital computer system.
