Foreign Ministry Joint Secretary Pushpa Raj Bhattarai Arrested
Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested Pushpa Raj Bhattarai, a joint secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Monday afternoon.
Police detained Bhattarai from Kageshwari Manohara Municipality in Kathmandu. Senior Superintendent of Police Anupam Shamsher Rana, spokesperson for the Bureau, confirmed that the arrest was made in connection with offenses under the Passport Act.
According to police officials, the action follows an investigation into alleged offenses dating back to 2068 BS. Authorities had formally registered a court case against Bhattarai in Chaitra 2082 BS regarding the charges. Following his detention, the Bureau stated that Bhattarai will be presented before the court for further legal proceedings.
