FNCSI Seeks Policy Support for MSME Sector, Donates Rs 5.55 Lakh for Flood Relief

The Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) has urged the government to make the micro, cottage and small industries (MSME) sector a national priority.

A delegation led by FNCSI President Shobha Gurung met Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle and proposed declaring the next 10 years as an “MSME Development Decade.”

It also called for collateral-free concessional loans, tax incentives for new industries, and at least 30% preference for domestic MSME products in public procurement. The federation also sought support for the “Made in Nepal” campaign, exports and modern technology.

The federation proposed entrepreneurship packages for women and returnee migrant workers, a “100 Startups–100 Investors” programme and faster government services for industries. Wagle said the MSME sector is among the government’s priorities.

During the meeting, FNCSI donated Rs 555,555 to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund for families affected by the floods. The federation is also collecting essential supplies for distribution in the affected areas.
