The Narayangadh-Butwal section of the East-West Highway, recently completed, has been severely affected by flooding since last night. According to Nawalpur Police, vehicular movement has been disrupted after floodwaters swept away the temporary diversion built over the Binayi River, and slippery conditions have emerged near the Daunne section.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Madhu Nepal, the Information Officer of Nawalpur Police, informed that the diversion, installed in the absence of a proper bridge, has been washed away by the rising flood. Persistent rainfall has further complicated the situation, particularly along the Dumkibas-Daunne stretch, making travel risky and difficult.

DSP Nepal urged motorists to avoid the affected highway section and instead use alternative routes until the situation improves. For east-to-west travel, vehicles are advised to take the route via Narayangadh, Mugling, Pokhara, Syangja, and Butwal. Similarly, travelers heading west from Kathmandu are recommended to follow the Mugling-Pokhara-Syangja-Butwal route.

For those traveling from west to east, the recommended route is through Butwal, Syangja, Pokhara, and Mugling. Light vehicle operators are specifically requested to check the road conditions before travel and are encouraged to use the Gaindakot-Pipaldanda route as an alternative.
