Federal Parliament to Discuss Key Bills and International Agreement Today

Both houses of Nepal’s Federal Parliament are scheduled to hold meetings today, with several bills and legislative proposals on the agenda.

The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam is scheduled to present the Nepal Law Commission (First Amendment) Bill, 2083.

She will also table a proposal seeking consideration of the Reconciliation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2083.

Similarly, Minister Gautam is scheduled to present the Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction.

Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramji Yadav will present a proposal to send the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Bill, 2083 to the concerned parliamentary committee for clause-by-clause discussion.

The proposal is aimed at advancing the bill through detailed committee-level deliberation.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly meeting is scheduled for 10:15 am.

Prime Minister Balendra Shah is scheduled to present a proposal to send the Bill (2082) on Retrieving the Provisions of the Nepal Special Service Act, 2042, along with the message received from the House of Representatives, to the Legislative Management Committee for detailed discussion.

The bills and proposals listed for today’s meetings cover a range of issues, including legal reform, child labour regulation, international maritime commitments and the country’s special service framework.
