Federal Parliament Convenes Today; Key Agendas Include Speaker Appointment and Committee Reshuffle

Both houses of Nepal’s Federal Parliament are scheduled to convene today at Singha Durbar, with important legislative and administrative agendas lined up.

The House of Representatives (HoR) will meet at 11:00 am at the multi-purpose hall of the under-construction Federal Parliament Building. The primary agenda of the meeting is to present a proposal for the election of Dol Prasad Aryal as the Speaker of the House. Aryal, who serves as Vice-President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, was elected unopposed to the post on Friday.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly (NA) is set to meet at 12:15 pm at Singha Durbar. During the session, the Chair will nominate and make changes to the members of various thematic committees. Additionally, the Chair will designate members to preside over meetings in the absence of both the Chair and Vice-Chair.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Balendra Shah will also present the annual report of the Women’s Commission for the fiscal year 2081/82. The information was shared by Padma Prasad Pandey, General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

Today’s parliamentary meetings are expected to address key procedural matters and strengthen the functioning of legislative bodies.
