The meeting of the central monitoring and evaluation committee of the government on Thursday decided to run fair price shops in view of the upcoming festivals. With the fair price shops, the supply and the availability of the daily essentials is expected to become smooth. The meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers under the coordination of Chief Secretary Dr Som Lal Subedi, discussed how the availability of the essential goods and services could be made effective in the run up to the festivals. For this, the concerned Ministries would hold discussions with the stakeholders including the cooperatives and the communities. Similarly, the Department of Commerce and Supply Management would continue market monitoring to discourage black marketing and artificial shortage of essential goods. The government mechanisms would be made active to provide ample security to the passenger buses and the carriers, so that supply of the goods and people's mobility would be easier. The trucks and carriers would be escorted from the customs points to the destinations. The Ministries of Transport and of the Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation would check the irregularities in air and land transportation. RSS
