The Election Commission is set to distribute certificates to candidates elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) under the proportional representation (PR) system on Wednesday, marking the final stage of the recent parliamentary election process.

According to Krishna Bahadur Raut, the certificates will be handed over at 11:30 am at the Commission’s premises. The move comes following the official announcement of results earlier this week.

The Commission had on Monday published the names of 110 candidates elected under the PR system from the HoR elections held on March 5. With this, the proportional representation component of the election has been formally concluded.

As per the EC, six political parties have secured the status of national party after surpassing the minimum threshold of three percent of the total valid votes.

Under the PR system, the Rastriya Swatantra Party emerged as the largest force, securing 57 seats. The Nepali Congress won 20 seats, followed by the CPN (UML) with 16 seats and the Nepali Communist Party with nine seats.

Similarly, the Shram Sanskriti Party and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party secured four seats each under the PR category.

The Election Commission stated that the overall election process for the March 5 HoR polls will be formally completed following the distribution of certificates to the elected representatives.
