KATHMANDU:

The country’s economic growth rate is estimated to stand at 4.6 per cent this fiscal year and will rise to 5.1 per cent next fiscal, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has said. The ADB’s growth estimate for this fiscal is lower than the revised government estimate of five per cent. The lower growth forecast is the result of expected deceleration in agricultural output this fiscal because of weak monsoon and natural disasters like floods. The ADB has also said annual inflation is likely to moderate to 7.7 per cent this fiscal from last fiscal’s 9.1 per cent. Inflation is expected to further moderate to 7.3 per cent in the next fiscal, ADB has said. Consumer prices are expected to rise at a moderate pace till next fiscal because of low oil and commodity prices.
