Dr. Biswo Paudel Sworn In as New NRB Governor, Vows Inclusive Financial Policies

Dr. Biswo Paudel has officially stepped into his role as the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) after taking the oath of office and secrecy earlier today. The oath was administered by Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut.

His appointment was confirmed during a Cabinet meeting held Tuesday evening, following extended political discussions. Dr. Paudel was selected from a list of candidates recommended by a committee led by Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel. The other shortlisted names included Acting Governor Neelam Dhungana Timilsina and former Secretary Dinesh Bhattarai.

Dr. Paudel has long believed that economic plans must be well-structured and implemented right down to the grassroots. He holds a strong stance that financial resources—particularly bank loans—should not be limited to a few privileged groups but must be extended to smaller, often overlooked sections of society. According to him, narrowing the wealth gap begins with ensuring broader access to capital.

Following the oath ceremony, he is expected to head to NRB’s central office in Baluwatar to formally begin his duties as Governor.
