DDC Pays Rs 120 Million to Dairy Farmers, Rs 460 Million Still Pending
The state owned Dairy Development Corporation has paid Rs 120 million to dairy farmers in an effort to clear long pending dues. According to the Corporation, it has settled Rs 120 million out of the total outstanding liabilities of around Rs 580 million owed to farmers over the past four months.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forest and Environment stated that the DDC has been distributing nearly Rs 10 million daily to farmers after implementing reform measures aimed at improving the Corporation’s financial and operational performance. Despite the recent payments, around Rs 460 million still remains unpaid to dairy farmers.
Meanwhile, private dairy industries across the country are also facing payment issues, with reports showing that they owe nearly Rs 3 billion to farmers. The situation has continued to raise concerns over the ongoing financial crisis in Nepal’s dairy sector.
