Dashain Tika Sait Fixed for 10:26 AM on Kartik 4
Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikash Samiti has announced the official auspicious timings for the key rituals of Bada Dashain. The festival kicks off on Sunday, Ashwin 25, with Ghatasthapana at 11:47 AM, the ideal hour to sow barley seeds (jamara) and setup sacred vessels.
Later in the week, the religious procession of Fulpati will take place on Saturday, Ashwin 31, followed by Maha Ashtami on Sunday, Kartik 1, and Maha Navami on Tuesday, Kartik 3.
The celebrations culminate on Vijaya Dashami, Tuesday, Kartik 4, when families gather to receive tika and jamara from elders. The most auspicious time for receiving tika is set at 10:26 AM, right after the ritual immersion of Goddess Durga (Devi Bisharjan).
According to tradition, persons receiving tika should face west during the ceremony. While blessings can be given throughout the entire day of Vijaya Dashami, 10:26 AM is the designated best time for those seeking the precise standard hour.
