Committee formed to coordinate TIA upgradation

A board meeting of the Investment Board Nepal (IBN), chaired by Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, today decided to form a high-level committee under Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Deepak Chandra Amatya to coordinate and facilitate works related to upgrading of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

Other members of the coordination and facilitation committee include vice chairman of the National Planning Commission, secretaries of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Law, Justice, Constituent Assembly and Parliamentary Affairs, CEO of the IBN and joint secretary of the IBN, says a press statement issued today by the IBN.

The board meeting also decided to conduct a study on construction of second international airport in Nijgadh, based on which ‘necessary action would be taken’.

The meeting also decided to authorise IBN CEO Radhesh Pant to make necessary modifications to Tamakoshi III Project Negotiation Agreement deadline. Also, a three-member committee has been formed under finance minister to evaluate performance of IBN CEO. Among others, the board meeting also decided to charge project development agreement (PDA) negotiation fee of $1,500 per megawatt. The sum has to paid to the IBN regardless of whether the negotiations are successful.
